International cloud provider Serverspace expands the set of templates presented in the control panel. Now all users can deploy virtual servers with the latest version of Rocky Linux 9.3. The feature is available for cloud servers based on the vStack hyperconverged virtualization platform.
Rocky Linux Features
Rocky Linux is a Linux distribution. It was created as a replacement for CentOS after CentOS Linux support was discontinued in favor of CentOS Stream. This made Rocky Linux, along with AlmaLinux, the best choice for those who were dependent on CentOS. Rocky Linux is an enterprise OS. That's why it is ideal for business tasks. The key features of the operating system are:
- The OS guarantees full binary-level compatibility with Red Hat Enterprise Linux. This allows users to seamlessly port and run applications developed for RHEL.
- The operating system utilizes SELinux (Security-Enhanced Linux) for easy access control and a high level of security.
- The distribution includes Dandified YUM, a state-of-the-art package manager. It offers more powerful performance and improved features compared to YUM introduced in previous versions of CentOS.
- Rocky Linux supports various file systems to optimize storage depending on individual requirements, including XFS, Ext4, and Btrfs.
- The OS uses the Systemd initialization management system. It provides fast booting and convenient administration of services through a single point of control.
- It comes with Tuned and cgroups tools for performance monitoring and optimization. These tools make it easy to customize the system for different workloads.
- Supports Docker and Kubernetes, allowing you to develop and deploy containerized applications.
- Rocky Linux provides compatibility with different architectures such as x86_64 and ARM64. This makes the OS suitable for a wide range of hardware, from personal computers to servers and cloud infrastructures.
- The OS offers stable operation with regular updates and a 10-year support lifecycle.
